Orange Tree Bonsai.
I live in Colombia-Suramerica; my country is in a tropical zone. Last week my friend gave me an orange tree bonsai. I have it in my apartment but I don't know how to take care of it. Can you please send me some information? Regards, Jose Ebert. You are probably talking about the calamondin orange or kumquat (normal oranges are too big for bonsai) - so I will assume that you are talking about the calamondin orange (citrus mitis) where the same information basically applies to the kumquat. The orange is a good indoor plant. Keep in a fresh, well ventilated location with plenty of bright light. In summer it can tolerate temperatures of about 6-12 C (44-53 F). Place outdoors from March to the end of October. Water often in the summer, and don't let it get too humid during the winter. Fertilise the plant after flowering with a basic release fertiliser such as Osmocote. Do not fertilise during summer. Repot every 2-3 years and prune after flowering and September/October. The bonsai should bear fruit in August-September. Good Luck! Dan
